Description
Rockaway Waterfront Alliance is looking to hire a wifi network technician to assistant the organization in the installation of a public point-to-point wifi network in Far Rockaway, Queens. The technician should have proficiency with wifi bridges and routers, network programming, and ability to effectively communicate set up to the Technology Program Coordinator and RWA Staff. The wifi network technician will also assist the Program Coordinator in developing curriculum on network installation, maintenance, and programming to support a group of high school interns who will manage and program the network.
Essential Functions
The RockSpot Wifi Network Technician will help Rockaway Waterfront Alliance install a pilot public wifi network in Far Rockaway with local community and business partners. The ability to effectively explain and communicate equipment needs and installation is critical to this position. Other responsibilities include:
Ç Advice RWA staff on necessary equipment purchases, network design, implementation, and scale up.
Ç Install pilot point-to-point bridges and routers.
Ç Test and troubleshoot pilots.
Ç Explain installation to RWA staff and Technology Program Coordinator.
Ç Assist the Technology Program Coordinator in drafting installation, troubleshooting, and programming training curriculum to be used in the Rockspot Digital Stewards Program.
