Description

TECTONIC is currently seeking a full-time Senior Construction Coordinator in the Long Island, NY area to assist homeowners in facilitating the design and construction process to repair their homes previously damaged by Superstorm Sandy pursuant to the ÐNew York Governors Office of Storm RecoveryÓ project.

Essential Functions

Essential functions of this position include: Ç Communicate with homeowners regarding GOSR program policies and construction related issues and assist them with navigating the design and permitting process; Ç Assess remaining damage and construction progress on single family residences project sites; Ç Assist contractor with coordinating inspections, payments, and change order approvals; Ç Coordinate daily with management to ensure accuracy of the project estimates and completions; Ç Prepare daily estimated cost of repair work using Xactimate software; Ç Respond to inquiries regarding applicable building code requirements/compliance and relevant housing rehabilitation quality standards and program standards as set forth; Ç Visit project sites to assess and inspect conditions and generate work scopes based upon the field verification of remaining storm related damages; Ç Forecast construction status schedules and expedite close-outs accordingly; Ç Attend and participate in regular meetings with the Construction Management, Case Management, and Technology teams to discuss stalled home repair cases; Ç Maintain GOSR project construction documentation in accordance with required standards, as well as all other required documentation; Ç Review and Evaluate program paperwork documentation for accuracy, cost analysis, and profitability; Ç All other duties as required.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following qualifications: _ Bachelors degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar preferred; a minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry required; or any suitable combination of experience of education, training, or experience is acceptable; _ The following certifications are strongly preferred: o ICC Residential Energy Code Plans Examiner/Inspector o IRC Certified in Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and/or Electrical o ICC Property Maintenance Certification o BPI Certification. _ Experience working with housing rehabilitation and reconstruction for Federal disaster recovery programs is a plus; _ Knowledge of residential construction techniques, standards, and applicants, as well as Long Island municipal codes, ordinances, regulations, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) as they apply to building construction; experience in identifying and assessing MEP systems is a plus; _ Demonstrated ability of performing Code and Quality Control (QC) Inspections on housing rehabilitation, reconstruction, bulkheads, and structural elevations; _ Mastery of approved methods, materials, practices, and safeguards of general building construction and structures, such as repairs, elevations, bulkheads, and mitigation measures for storm resiliency; _ Exceptional interpersonal skills, focused on serving client and homeowner needs; _ Outstanding oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to use electronic communication technology effectively; _ Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, specifications, plans, and detailed job orders; _ Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Xactimate software, and contractor construction software, as well as ability to utilize database programs, time reporting systems, and other related computer applications; _ Flexible schedule to accommodate early morning, evening, and weekend work as needed; _ Valid Drivers License and personal vehicle for required site visits. Physical Activities and Requirements While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Regularly, the employee will need to move around on the construction site, including maneuvering around construction site obstacles and hiking the landscape in various weather conditions, including rain and snow, sometimes while lifting and/or moving equipment up to 25 lbs. The employee will be required to maneuver throughout homes in construction, including entering bulkheads, attics, or similar spaces. They employee must be able to safely operate a motor-vehicle, in which they may be required to remain stationary for a prolonged period of time. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients by using the Corporate and client e-mail and telephone system.
