Overview
As a cornerstone of the State’s efforts to assist storm-impacted New Yorkers, the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR) operates the NY Rising Housing Recovery Program to facilitate home repairs, rehabilitation, mitigation, and elevation for the owners of single-family homes. Seeing up to 300,000 housing units damaged, the State– from the very onset– made strategic decisions to speed up the distribution of funds, empower individuals in their own recoveries and provide them with opportunities to incorporate optional resiliency measures. Above all else, GOSR has recognized the extreme importance of getting families back in their homes, while simultaneously ensuring compliance with U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) requirements.
These positions are available within the Construction division to execute the work functions and coordinate with other functional teams to assist individual applicants progress toward the closeout of their storm recovery project.
Essential Functions
· Xactimate Specialist (Assess construction scope and costs to produce accurate award estimates)
· Primavera Contract Manager specialist (Utilize the industry software PCM to monitor, control, and report progress of residential projects and maintain construction documentation)
· Permit Expediter (Work with local building departments to expedite the processing time of municipality permits, inspections, approvals, etc)
· Administrative Analyst for Design & Construction team (Skilled manager of information who can organize and prioritize tasks and report key metrics)
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field.
• Thorough knowledge of general construction with a good understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong leadership skills with a strong ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to multi-task, which requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail and quality.
• Strong computer skills
• Preference will be shown to qualified Section 3 residents.
